Church History

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember..."
     (Ephesians 2:10, 11a)

The Indian Valley Church of God has a rich heritage. As we recall the past, we are reminded continually of God's providence and guidance in the establishing of our church. Even in its conception, God arranged a tent meeting in 1949 in which the Spirit of God breathed life into this newborn church through revival. Rev. Dorsie Phillips became the founding pastor, and the Indian Valley Church of God was organized on August 20, 1949 with ten charter members who had a burden for the lost and a vision for the future.

The Indian Valley Church of God is a result of the hand of God working in and through committed and dedicated men and women, both ministry and laity, for over half a century. Many sacrifices have been made unselfishly to bring the powerful message of Jesus Christ and the Pentecostal influence to our community and beyond. We owe so much to so many who have provided such a valuable and biblical heritage for us. But most of all we are beholden to God, for we are His workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)
