There are two parts to the Bible: the first is the Old Testament, and the last is the New Testament.
The Old Testament details the Exodus from Egypt and other historical events such as Moses recieving the 10 Commandments. It tells us much about Isreal, including its records and traditions. It also describes the suffering of Job as a test of faith and the lives of Esther and Ruth. There is even a book devoted to a great many songs of praise or Psalms. Most of the Old Testament was origionally written in Hebrew with a few words in Aramaic.
The New Testament, was written after Jesus was born. It tells of His life, death, and resurrection, and shows us how to live by giving an example of a man who lived without sin. But, Jesus was much more than just a man; he was and is the Son, the messiah, sent to save us all, and to this the new Testament is largely dedicated.
